Mount Elgon National Park
Many people love to visit Mount Elgon National Park due to its fascinating facts. It is ranked the 4th highest Mountain peak in East Africa. The park is found along the slopes of ionic Mount Elgon and stands on an elevation of 4,327 meters above. Mount Elgon occupies an area of about 1279 square Kilometers. Mountain Elgon is shared by both Uganda and Kenya. Uganda occupies an area of about 110 square Kilometers and Kenya shared a portion of about 169 square Kilometers.
Beside harboring an extinct Volcano, Mount Elgon national park is a popular safari destination for nature lovers and features numerous bird trails. It is recognized internationally as one of the best birding sites in Uganda with over 300 bird species. There are few mammals in the park however, you will spot some wildlife like mountain buffaloes, Elephants, antelopes, duikers, Forest monkeys like White and black colobus monkeys among others.

How to get there
Mount Elgon national park is situated about 235 kilometers from Kampala in the north east of the beautiful Lake Victoria. From Kampala to Mount Elgon, it takes about 3 to 4 hours drive from Kampala capital city driving through Jinja to Mbale town and finally to the park.
