The 3 days Murchison falls safari is a shorter wildlife tour to Uganda’s biggest national park which is also filled with lots of games and beautiful sites perfect for photography. The trip features a launch cruise in Murchison falls national park to the bottom of the falls, wildlife game drives to see elephants, antelopes, giraffes and search for lions and leopards. The safari includes a drive to the top of the falls to witness the strength of this scenery and a stopover at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary to see rhinos, birds and other wildlife.

Detailed itinerary of the 3 days Murchison falls safari
Day 1: Transfer from Kampala or Entebbe to Murchison falls national park
Rise up early, have breakfast and meet the driver guide who has come to pick you up from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe so you depart for the safari by 7:30am. The journey takes us through Luwero triangle, the vast savannah grasslands of Nakasongola and Masindi town to Kinchumbanyobo gate in the south of the park. We drive through Budongo forest and go visit the top of the falls where you get thrilled at how powerful the falls are, feeling the showers of the bursting Nile.
From this place, we head to the ferry crossing area on the R. Nile to access the northern side for a game drive and check in at the lodge if our accommodation is located on the northern part of the park.

Day 2: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise
We leave the lodge at 6:30am after an early morning breakfast and head to Nyamsika plateau for the game drive where we expect to see lions, leopard, elephants, big herds of buffaloes, giraffes, waterbucks, bush bucks and Jackson’s hartebeest. Return to the lodge at around 10:30 for a refreshment, relax and later on have lunch. Prepare for the afternoon boat ride on the Nile to the bottom of the falls. We board the boat at Paraa and ride up stream along the Nile. Tourists on board see numerous hippos, birds, crocodiles resting on the shores and sometimes other wildlife including giraffes, antelopes and buffaloes.

Day 3: Morning game drive and leave Murchison falls for Kampala
This is our last day of the trip which also starts with a game drive as early as 6:30 after having breakfast. Hitting the trails early helps to increase our chances of finding hunters and nocturnal before they go to rest at sunrise. We are likely to sight lions, leopard, hyena or jackal. Giraffes, buffaloes, elephants, waterbucks and Jackson’s hartebeest are commonly seen.
Drive out of the park, have lunch en route and visit Ziwa rhino sanctuary to track rhinos. Rhino tracking can be an optional activity on the itinerary. Proceed with the trip to return to Kampala or Entebbe where we arrive in the evening.
